Notes

Coach Log Note 1:

During a personal check-in, Kim said she was subbing (filling in for a teacher) and when asked how she was, she said, “I’m here.”

All of her coursework is finished and graded!

I stated that we had two purposes:  to talk about her student goal and her teacher goal.

As regards her student goal, students have reached the 3/4 point (able to segment words at least 2/6 times).  She said it was going well and they were coming along.  Things have been busy!

For her teacher goal, we talked about her plans for implementing POSSUM into her instruction next year in her new first grade assignment at Curee of Ars at 95th and Mission.  She said she has the graphic organizer printed off and believes that both kids and parents will understand the work.  She said that watching the video within the module helped her own understanding.  She believes that it will be a good way to provide explicit instruction for the identified vocabulary words and will give her a common approach to all the words she teaches.  She appreciates that it covers all aspects of the word:  phonology, orthography, syntax, semantics, understanding, morphology.  She says, “Kids can own it!”

She will have a formal measure of the segmenting portion of the PAST for our final meeting on 5/18/26 at 9:00.
