Lindsey Fuzzell

Today we touched based on the progress Lindsey has made with her student Lucas on progress monitoring.  She first reported his most recent running record showed a 1:5 self-correction ratio which was a huge improvement from the beginning point of 1:22. She did not give him any prompting at all so this was what he did on his own.  We looked at those errors together and noticed that the majority of the errors he corrected were when he looked at initial sound then attempted a word then realized it didn’t make sense so reread it correctly a second time. He is still making some of those errors and not self-correcting them but he is doing it much more often than he was.  To further determine his progress Lindsey is going to do 2 things. First, she will have him reread some prior passages that do not have as many new unknown words in them. She is also going to try having him read in see saw so he can hear himself reading.  We will meet again next week to reflect a bit more on Lucas. We will also craft a new focus for the remaining weeks together.
