Notes
During a personal check-in, Courtney shared that she was “burning the candle at all ends!” The Forensics meet went well. Bennett (son-13) said that seeing Hamilton was the “most magical night” and would be a core memory for him. Break was “never long enough.” They cleaned and shopped for the cruise they are taking with her family and parents and extended family. Her sister-in-law has been in town. They are working to support Courtney’s mother-in-law who recently became a widow.
She reported that she completed the work for the first course, but that it was more intense than any of them had envisioned.
I shared that our primary purpose today was to discuss her work and progress toward the goal. She has been meeting with her group of three girls, who love the personal attention and the time with her, their teacher. She has been using the resources she pulled from the module and created for her own use and taught routines for thinking about and reading the heart words. They are independently recording and taking stills to post on Seesaw so that she can see their work. Time is an issue! She has five small groups AND they are deep into preparation for the state assessment. We commiserated for a moment about how difficult that is – especially, in my opinion, for third graders who are facing it for the first time. She wishes she had more time to devote to this group, but I reminded her that, as long as she is teaching and modeling, their independent work also has value – especially since they have a personalized list of words they are each working to master.
She worked on this over the Break, and left her materials at home today. She will send me numbers for the starting point via email and will be prepared at our next meeting to share progress. We will meet again on April 7 at 10:15.
We also discussed possibilities for her next goal for herself centered around utilizing new strategies for one of the module content areas.
