I got to meet Kayla’s new puppy Goose.
He targeted students are making good progress and all but one has moved on from vowel-r. She noted that she pulled those students in the small group closer in proximity to her during whole group and that seemed to help.
She mentioned using Seesaw where the students can listen to the word and sound, spelling map it independently. She also uses Seesaw to communicate with parents since their school has a high population of non-English speaking students.
Kayla also mentioned wrapping up the last assignment and registering for the next session. We discussed the rigor of the course, but she has felt that has been managable and is happy that she took in during the school year so she can use some of the strategies with her students.
She is going to send me a video of her small group next week then we will set up our next meeting.
